Frequently asked questions

Our answers provide clear guidance to help you understand our services and simplify your construction journey.

What is construction takeoff software?

Construction takeoff software lets you measure quantities such as areas, lengths, and counts directly from digital plans instead of printed drawings and a scale rule. Assemble Pro is a cloud-based takeoff and estimating tool for builders and subcontractors: upload your plans (PDF), measure on screen, and the quantities flow straight into a priced estimate.

What is Assemble Pro?

Assemble Pro is construction takeoff and estimating software built for builders and subcontractors. It combines an easy-to-use takeoff tool, a pricing library with reusable assemblies, and a professional estimate builder in one platform, so you can price jobs up to 10x faster and send polished quotes to clients in minutes.

Who is Assemble Pro for?

Assemble Pro is designed for residential builders, general contractors, and subcontractors who price their own jobs, including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, drywallers, roofers, painters, and groundworkers. If you currently do takeoffs from printed plans or build estimates in Excel, Assemble Pro replaces both.

Do I need training to use Assemble Pro?

No. Assemble Pro is built to be used straight away, with no demo or onboarding call required. Most contractors complete their first takeoff within minutes of signing up, and free human support is available if you need a hand.

Does Assemble Pro work with Metric or Imperial measurements?

Assemble Pro works with metric and imperial measurements, any currency, and customisable tax rates, making it a strong fit for ANZ, Irish and UK builders and subcontractors as well as contractors in North America.

How does the takeoff tool work?

Upload your plans as a PDF, set the scale, and measure areas, lengths, and counts directly on screen. Assemble Pro totals your quantities automatically and organizes them by group, so a takeoff that took hours on printed plans takes minutes.

Can I create estimates with Assemble Pro?

Yes. Once your takeoff is done, Assemble Pro automatically builds a professional estimate using your pricing templates and assemblies. You can adjust margins, add labour and materials, and send a polished, client-ready quote in minutes.

What are assemblies in estimating software?

An assembly is a reusable bundle of materials and labour for a repeated piece of work. For example, a square metre of stud wall including timber, board, fixings, and labour. In Assemble Pro you can build your own assemblies or start from prebuilt templates, so every takeoff quantity prices itself down to the last screw.

Can I use my own prices?

Yes. Assemble Pro includes a fully customisable cost library. Set your own material costs, labour rates, and margins once, and every future estimate uses your real numbers. Update a price in the library and it's ready for the next job.

What file types can I upload?

Assemble Pro works with PDF plans, the standard format architects and engineers issue. Upload single drawings or full plan sets and take off quantities from any page.

How much does Assemble Pro cost?

Assemble Pro costs $70 per month, or $700 per year (two months free on annual billing). One subscription includes full access to takeoff, assemblies, and estimates with unlimited projects. No tiers, no hidden fees, and no lock-in contract.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Assemble Pro offers a 14-day free trial with full access to every feature, and no credit card is required. After the trial, subscribe monthly or annually, or purchase Single Project Access if you only bid occasionally.

Am I locked into a contract?

No. Assemble Pro has no lock-in contracts and no cancellation fees, and you can cancel anytime. You can switch between monthly and annual billing whenever you like.

What happens when my free trial ends?

Your projects are saved but locked when the 14-day trial ends. Subscribe and everything you created during the trial, including takeoffs, estimates, and templates, is exactly where you left it. Nothing gets lost.

How is Assemble Pro different from estimating in Excel?

Excel can't measure plans, so quantities are typed in by hand. That's slow, and one bad cell breaks the estimate. Assemble Pro links measurement and pricing: take off the quantity on screen and it's priced automatically from your library, cutting estimating time by up to 90% and eliminating copy-paste errors.

How does Assemble Pro compare to Bluebeam or PlanSwift?

Bluebeam and PlanSwift are powerful but built for estimating specialists, with desktop installs and steep learning curves. Assemble Pro is cloud-based, works on any computer, and is designed for contractors who price their own work. You get takeoff and estimating in one tool at $70/month with no training required.

How does Assemble Pro compare to Buildertrend or JobTread?

Buildertrend and JobTread are project management platforms; to get full value from them you need to run every aspect of your company through them. That's great for some companies, but others don't need all the tools available, and you pay for them whether you use them or not. Assemble Pro is a dedicated takeoff and estimating tool. If pricing work fast and accurately is the problem you're solving, a focused tool is faster to learn and a fraction of the cost, and you can keep using your existing job management software alongside it.

Can I import my existing price lists?

Yes. You can bring your existing material and labour pricing into your Assemble Pro cost library so your first estimate uses your real numbers from day one. Our support team will help you get set up.

What support is included?

Every Assemble Pro subscription includes free human support: real people who help you get the most from your account, from first takeoff to template setup. There's no paid support tier; it's included for everyone.

Is my data safe and backed up?

Yes. Assemble Pro is cloud-based, so your projects, takeoffs, and estimates are saved automatically and accessible from any computer. Your pricing libraries and templates stay private to your account.
